Ken's Akvastabil Mark II - 360 litres

Hi guys!

I'm doing a new reef at the moment and thought it would be fun to share it with you guys to get more ideas and tips to improve the reef. As well as improving my english

So to the my setup. My goal is to achieve an aquarium with a clean look consisting of healthy fish and colorful corals.

Akvastabil Effectline Mark II - 130 x 50 x 55 (cm), approx 360 litres
Stand in white, overflow on right hand side with 2 drains (32 mm) and 1 return (32)

AGA tank as sump - 60 x 40 x 40 (cm), net water volume approx 60 litres
AGA tank as RO water - 20 x 40 x 45 (cm)

AM Eco Runner 3700 (3700 l/h) as main pump

Tunze 6095 (9500 l/h) x 2
Vortech MP10 W ES (6000 l/h)

Main pump

I was already searching for a new pump in the last project, as I sold a RE Red Dragon 6500 earlier that time. Proven to be a bad decision, because that one must be the best pump that I've ever owned. At least if the noise level is taken into account, even the price is shameful high as known.

Eheim 1262 (3400 l/h) was working just fine, but was a bit too small for an 950 litres aquarium and noise level was not acceptable for my liking.

Got the opportunity to test a Tunze Silence Pro (11000 l/h) at a good price. My thought was using this as the return as well as extra circulation in the sump and reactors. But still, TOO powerful :shocked:
Except from that I would recommend this pump to everyone that needs a powerful pump that requires good craftmanship and low noise level. However, if the pump meets the expectation in the long run, I don't know.

Over to Aqua Medic's new series, Eco Runner. Due different circumstances I've got the chances to try out these models: 6000 l/h, 3700 l/h and using right 2700 l/h.
Except from a fault on the 3700 where the impeller starting to make som noise after some months of use, these pumps seems to be well built, powerful and have a low noise level.

Jebao have recently released pumps which gained a lot of good criticism. I ordered a WP-25 and a DC-3000 for testing, but it was a fault on the WP-25 (streampump) so any experience is yet to come.

The pump DC-3000 features 5 different speed modus, beside that a feed modus which stop the pump through a controller. Its softstart mode allow a calm start while the pumpe increasing its speed to set mode.
A little smaller than the Eco Runner in size, but still well built and of course cheaper. However, the controller feels like a cheap plastic toy.
Gave it a testrun yesterday and first impressions is just fine. Not very loud, but definitely louder than the Eco Runner. Original packaging are also bad. I will start running this one next time the Eco Runner needs a clean.

Very NICE Reeftank Ken, WELCOME aboard and what a great selection of Fish and Coral. My very first Reeftank (Berlin Style) was an Akvastabil 15g/50-ish litre Glass with gold anodized aluminum frame way way back in 1982. Following along as love to learn Reefkeeping approaches of other regions.
