I've been using kent purple tech for about a week now. Do I need to shut of my filter when I add the purple tech or it doesn't matter? Who else have used it were you happy with the results? How long until coroline starts to grow?

Throw it away, that stuff only raises dissolved calcium levels. I won't and get you coralline, coralline has to be in the tank, from live rock or scrapings from a person that has live rock. It will grow in a matter of weeks if your water params are in order.
