Today I was inspecting my tank from above and notice my Kenya tree coral with the trunk with this discoloration and tissue loss. Im wondering what could cause it.

At the moment I'm battling aitapsia and a magnesium level of 1500+ because of a bad test kit.

Could those be the reason?

Thanks in advance.

What’s your water parameters and any aptasia close to the coral. Can you gives a wider shot of the tank. It looks like a coral just to the left cut off in the pic.

That's an aitapsia. As I said I'm battling a huge breakout. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will introduce a copperband that will help me out to control it.

PH around 8, Alk around 7 and raising, mag 1500, cal 400, no ammonia, nitrates or phosphates.

Corals will benifit from .1po4 and 5-10 No3. That aptasia could be stinging the coral.
