I already have a separate thread for this but is my coral dying? I have just done a water change but this kenyas been like this for several weeks now. I havent done anything weird lately for the coral to be dying. Its spreading and reproducing everywhere in the tank like normal. How did i manage to kill a keny tree? Any ideas to help it?

These guys from looks of pics not getting enough water flow and lights look bright for them
Moderate light and medium flow and a little iron and strontium in the water
The areas rotted at the base can be cut with sharp razor and re-planted

Are you sure its the flow thats causing this? I have a pretty powerful flow at full speed cranking at it. I just turned down the light.

You want to aim flow towards it - Not at it
The decay suggests too little flow but if tearing away can’ be due to too much

And sometimes in my experience with soft corals it’s just a plain old “who knows”. For the record have a mixed tank with SPS that is growing well and being fragged and a lower level with variety of soft and LPS pieces for the most part thriving.

I’ve added two Kenya trees over the past 2 1/2 years both of which held on, then withered and died. Both with moderate light and flow.
and agree it looks like a wholelotta light, but hard to tell

How are the rest of the soft and LPS?
good luck

How would i introduce iron, I currently have carbon running in the tank.

And do you have any tips on how to cut pieces off and replant them So I don’t make it worse on the coral.
Just a clean cut with razor right above dead areas

Last question i promise, but just to make sure cause the video didnt really explain, should i leave the kenya in the tank while im cutting off pieces.

You can and run carbon after to eliminate toxins should there be any

You were completely right i reduced the light and aimed the flow towards it but not on it, and now the coral is standing up and becoming more colorful, its coming back to life. Thanks.
