Kenya tree falling apart?

So two of my large Kenya trees in my 10g dropped off a lot of little branches when I was trying to make it close up cause it looked like one branch was ready to fall off. I know that Xenia and policoppora reproduce this way but I didn't think that Kenya tree did.
I've found two small Kenya trees in places that weren't there before like a month ago but I didn't think anything of it.

I would mount them on some small bits of rock and swop them for other coral frags

I used to mount them on empty hermit shells... then I'd eventually have some awesome hermit crabs!
