I purchased a Kenya tree frag for $5. The lfs had just gotten them in and hadn't even attached them to plus yet.

Got it in the tank and realized it had zoas on it but the Kenya tree was attached to the zoas.

There's one small pebble also attached that I glued to a piece of live rock.

Does anyone think they could/would separate?

I don't want to loose the zoas attached.

Nope, zoas don't move... That said, they do regenerate fairly well. I would try to remove the zoas and glue them to another rock.

I mean, with a razor blade (please, please don't use a rusty one...high oxidized iron is bad for most living things).

Like cut the stems of them off and glue the stems to a new rock?

I would personally leave it just as it is. To ME that is really cool. We just. Ought a house last yr that has an oak tree with a pine tree growing from within it where the roots grow into the ground. The pine has been surrounded by the oak. Kinda same thing

I'm going to leave it as is. Hoping it doesn't kill the zoas but for $5 I'll see what happens

Update: Kenya tree has grown like crazy! It started to look like the zoas and Kenya were separating. Came home today and I can't find the zoas. Idk if they died or let go and moved.

Nice! So I have to say sorry, cause I've been givin some bad info-- but it's probably not wrong...

I found out, oh, a month ago, that what I had was some unheard-of species of Xenia that clumped together and went upwards, just like a tree in Kenya, ironically. Anyway, I was sharing my experiences with Xenia and not Kenya tree coral. I also got a couple of actual neon Kenya tree today too! Anyway, good for you!!
