Hi guys just short of 2 months ago I upgraded from a 60l to 250. Within my 60 I had a few corals: Kenya Tree, Zoas, GSP and pulsing Xenia. Which were all doing well and opening up. Since moving my Kenya tree to the new tank it has never opened up, sometimes before the lights come on it might stretch its stem and then once lights are on it goes small again whilst never opening its polyps/extending branches. Over theses 2 months I've moved the tree around to different locations e.g. lower/higher flow and higher/lower light and still no change. The Kenya will also depending on where it goes moved its self so it attached to the rock around it which I believe to show that its alive. Any suggestion on what could be the issue and how I can get it to open up again.

Salinity - 1.025
Ammonia - 0
Nitrate - 20
pH - 8
Alkalinity - 8
Calcium - 380
Magnesium - 1230

I know the calcium and mag are lower then they should be and they were lower then this which im now sorting out but all the others corals have done fine with these levels and are growing. I've even added other corals in this time that are also doing well.

its normal for mine to do this at night when the lights go off. i would recommend moving the coral to a brighter spot.

also what is the temperature of your tank ?

Yeah mine would do this at night too in my old tank however it doesn't change once the lights are on. My temp is at 24.2 degrees Celsius.

Mine also will do the open / closed for a day or so,,, I would agree , move it around . Mine loves a lower spot , basically under the water flow from power head.
Good Luck

Yeah I know now and again when they are growing they will close up for a short period or so which mine used to do but its been almost 2 months of it not opening up.

what are your leds set at?

p.s.
im not worried about your coral at all.

I have 3 TMC Aquaray 2000 HD which are set at 80% light intensity with 1-hr ramp time. Middle one is on for 7hrs and the two on the end are on for 6hrs, would run longer times but get diatoms.

This is so old, did the Kenya tree ever open up? I’m having the same issue. 4 weeks now just after I moved the tank.
