I have a large Kenya tree at the front of my DT and one large branch is slowly shading an area below. I want to remove that branch which is at least 1/2" wide in diameter at the base, and probably 5" tall with more branches at the top. Can I just take a razor blade and cut it off close to the rock and remove? I know it will grow back, which is fine, but being that big, will it produce a lot of slime and that sort of stuff into my tank, and maybe be a problem? Thanks

I would take a knife to the rock and chip away until the tree is removed.

Oh and hey welcome to the club!

You can cut it right off- close to rock as possible. I bought a pair of cheap hair cut scissors to trim my Kenya and my xenia

Thanks, and I did get that part of the Kenya tree removed. I actually like it where it is at, but it was getting too tall and starting to shade other corals. Would have been funny for anybody to watch that process! I used a razor blade first and couldn't even cut through the base!! The rock was sticking out some so I decided to break off that part and that included the part of the tree that I wanted gone. That was one heck of a process but everything is good now!
