I have had my Kenya tree for about 2 years with no problems. I moved it in the tank about 6 weeks ago and it was doing very well until 3 days ago. It has been closed up and dropping a few branches. I turn it around this morning to get a better view and this is what I saw. Part of the brown area that looks like is is dying is starting to spread to healthy tissue. Nothing in the tank has changed so no idea why this would suddenly happen. Do u think I should try to cut off a healthy area or leave it alone? Thanks.

Sometimes softies she'd maybe what your going through. Does it have proper flow to help it shed. I would watch it if it's dropping babies it may be stressed so dropping ensures part of it will survive

I would probably cut off any known dead or dying tissue then a good dip in MelaFix/Coral R/X/Lugol's Solution to aid in recovery and stop bacterial infection. Move dropped branches away to a good flow area so they don't become infected as well.

Cheers, Todd

Thanks for the responses. It was in good flow. No idea what caused this. Hopefully it won't spread to anything else. It was completely affected in the last 24 hours. I was able to cut off two TINY pieces to try and save. Frustrating.

I have a jungle of Kenya trees, they are a great indicator of pH shifts or alkalinity or calcium dropping, they sag and shrink. If the pH is'nt to high or low, or dKh under 7, to much water flow will make them retract there polyps and then if there polyps dont open they then bleach over time.
What is the water parameters? alkalinity, calcium, magnesium also temp and salinity?
