i noticed for a couple of days now my Kenya Tree has not opened..i have 3 of them and noticed that 2 are not opening...they have been in the same spot for a while and opened untill recently....could someone help

Is your water parameters in check?

I have noticed with these leather type corals that sometimes they will shed and go through a few days where they don't open.

kenya tree gets PO alot.give it a few more days and they sould be back to normal.sometimes mine get PO for a good week and then goes back to normal.

this is my parameters:

ph -8.3
nitrate -0
nitrite -0
amonia -0
calcium - 380
kh-9
phos - 0
salinity - 1.023

Try to kill it and it will live strong forever. :D

I've had a sprig in my tank for years I can't get rid of. I can grab the whole thing by the root and rip it out and a week or two later it pops back up.

I just gave lots of it for free and 2 days ago i put some in the trash because around here nobody wants it,i wish my nice chalice and blastos would grow fast like kenya tres.

If everything was the kenya tree; Fox, Tyree, etc would be selling groceries. :D

I'd check to make sure there aren't any brittle stars or any other critters touching it. If a snail gets within an inch or two of mine it closes up. It could also be pushing up some babies. If mine is closed for more than a day, when it opens there are new lumps on the stem or near the base where it's about to sprout out from.

I wouldn't worry about it, I'd just figure it's up to something LOL.

My Kenya Tree and leathers sometimes shed a waxy film to rid their surfaces of attached algae or detritus. They may remain closed for a few days before shedding this film, but it is usually a normal process. Strong water flow can help slough off the film layer.
