Bought a chunk of live rock with a kenya tree on it. Today the tree is laying in the sand but base is still attached to rock. Will it regrow or is it a goner

I cant kill mine its survived 2 tank transfers and a crash and me stabbing it over and over again but it keeps coming back. I am sure it will be fine otherwise you need to check you nitrites and ammonia. If you do kill it lmk how because I can't kill mine. They shrink up and lay flat all the time and come back.

Do you have a pic? Was it placed in a high flow area that caused it to break off?

I would think that given they are very resilient corals, you can re-glue the broken off piece to a rock, but it would help to see how it looks vs. the base.

The base is still on. The tree literally just fell off of the base that's attached to rock. All levels were golden when it was put in

It is normal for kenya (and all leathers) to sulk/wither/shrivel/etc.. from time to time - and when moved or messed with.

As above, you would be hard pressed to kill it. Assuming things are mildly stable in your tank there is probably a 99% change it perks up on it's own.

I constantly rip entire stalks off of the one in my tank, no scissors or anything and it doesn't even seem to flinch.

Ok thank you mine isn't withered or shriveled it shriveled last night when I put it in the tank but was broke off today. Took it out didn't want it rotting in my tank. I guess what I'm really asking is as long is there is some base left on my rock do you think it will come back

It can regrow if there is flesh left over - if a piece detaches from the rock it can also re-attach on it's own.

Kenya Tree will actually drop stalks to spread/propagate itself, so it is common for it to sever small sections and re-grow else where in the tank later.

It folds when there is insufficient water flow, light and iron in the water. Once it takes off, it can grow crazy wild.

For instance in my tank this whole stalk is breaking off and will likely start floating around in the near future.
So far I have been able to contain the spread, but I do miss a piece here or there occasionally and have considered moving it to the sump.
