My green kenya tree has been doing spectacular. Until I bought a bi-color angle. Now it spends the majority of time closed up. It still has great color and appears puffy however it hasn’t extended its polyps. I’ve seen this behavior in the past just not for this long. I’m thinking of removing the coral from the display tank and putting him down into the Sump area…

any suggestions would be helpful

Welcome to R2R!
If I am not mistaken, I believe that bi-color angle's are known to nip at sps and soft coral polyps as well as clam mantles.
If you have not witnessed this occurring it may be worth watching a bit closer to be sure.

Alternatively, soft corals will occasionally shrivel up and slouch over as part of their normal behavior. It should return to normal if that is the case assuming the tank water parameters are kept stable, and the angle not nipping

First thing to do is elevate it. In its location it is lacking needed water flow as well as light.
Moderate light and water flow and in the path of flow NOT directed at themis warranted. Take a turkey baster and blow the sediment it has off of it

Welcome! Glad you joined. VetteGuy knows his stuff - I always learn great tips from him! Refer you to earlier post in this thread

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

I’ve moved him up . He was a little to the left where my new coral now sits. I believe we moved him down so it wouldn’t look like easy nippings hopefully he’ll respond before the lights full go into night mode. Fingers crossed if he does I’ll have to rethink the reef arrangement I currently have

thank you

By the way does the current appearance seem normal or should I be deeply concerned??

Cant see current without video but should be moderate wehereas the coral is getting current while not bent to the side

Just wanted to give an update on this little gem. He’s doing very well. After it’s said and done he was puffy as seen in the previous picture for about 3 weeks.. slowly showed signs of wanting to extend a put out his feeding tentacles…. Although the latest picture doesn’t show him fully extended I know now that he’s not dying

thank you for the advice
Happy Reefing!!!!
