Kessil 360we Dunk a dump in the tank. Need advice

Hey guys I had a Kessil 360we fall into my tank. it was only submerged for a brief time (5 seconds or so) just over the lens maybe a couple inches under water. I let it dry for about a week and turned it on. The second i put power to the fixture it flashed briefly then went out and is the same after 6 weeks. Obviously the fixture is fried. My question can this be fixed in anyway or should i just send it to its grave. Thanks in advanced. Any help appreciated

oof. should have soaked and rinsed in RODI at least a couple of times and dried.

salt water will essentially never fully dry as the salt itself attracts moisture, hence the short you had.

maybe contact Kessil and see if they would be willing to repair for a fee?

Yea i didnt even think of rinsing at that point. Thanks for the tip

Might be too late for this, but consider putting it in a bag of rice for a week or so. Apparently the rice will help absorb any residual moisture.

I can't speak to rinsing it in RODI water, but might not have anything to lose by trying it.

the rinsing would have helped right after the dunk. its not gunna do squat now. unless it has some sort of self protection against shorts. it shouldnt hurt anything if its already dead. just make sure its completely dry inside before you try to turn it on again.

Kessil don't repair them, but they will offer you a replacement at a modest discount. I dunked the H380 a while back. Took it apart, rinsed with RODI, fully dried and it still worked. The innards are actually quite well water resistant. Once it shorts its shot though.
