Hey guys, so I've had a kessil on my tank since October of last year. Over the past 2-3 months, I've had terrible luck with my tank, losing numerous frags from switching to Red Sea Coral Pro salt, and I'm just starting to recover..hopefully. So the purpose of this thread is to see what everyone is running their kessils at, and on what size tank.

For the first few months, I ran my kessil with a controller and ramped up to 100% power for 5-6 hours of the day, out of the 10 hour cycle. I had great results, everything grew great. Everyone starting giving my advice, however, telling me to turn down the intensity.

I'm using: Kessil 360we + controller
Tank size/dimensions: Nuvo 16, 24 inches long, 10 inches of display wide, 12 inches high. Light is 12-13 inches from the water level, and exactly 24 inches from the sandbed.

Currently running a 10hr program, ramping up to about 80% power and 50% color after 3-4 hours, staying there for 3 hours or so, and then ramping back down.

Corals in the tank are 95% all lps. Mostly acans, which are directly under the light on the sandbed, some doing great, others not so great. Chalices at different spots in the tank. Some look great..and I can't tell if some are looking a little burnt, some of the flesh looks sharp, where I don't quite see skeleton, but it doesn't have that happy puffy look to it, while others may have some brown discoloration where a small amount of skeleton can be seen.

So please let me know what settings you're running on your kessil (if you're using a 360we) and the dimensions that they cover. I also work at a LFS where we use kessil 360we's, and I see acans grow great under 80-100% intensity, approx. 10-12 inches from the light.

The owner of my LFS has a beautiful assortment of frags, many of the tanks are lit by Kessils, and he told me do not go above 75% intensity with the Kessils. I don't have enough of my own experience to know any better, I just got my first acan this week. It opens up nicely when the lights come on, but as of now it is too soon to know if it's growing. I forgot to get reef putty and won't have time to get to the LFS until this weekend, in the meantime my hermits have occasionally knocked it over and sent it tumbling to the sand bed, so it hasn't had a chance to attach to anything yet (it separated from its plug the first time a hermit knocked it over).

I run mine at 42% intensity and 53% color, about 7 inches off the surface in an 18" deep tank. I am having reasonable growth and color on mixed LPS/SPS tank.
