Kessil A160WE comparable to a,,,

I've been using a 175 watt SE MH bulb run on an older Hamilton magnetic ballast along with two T5 actinics for the past 7 years or so without any problems. This set up has treated me really well. (standard 20 gallon DT) It's about that time to replace the bulbs and my LFS just started carrying the Kessil lights. I was just curios if I would be loosing anything by switching over to the A160WE. I'm able to keep pretty much anything with the MH, but would this still be the case with this particular LED fixture? Any downfalls I need to know about etc? Thanks.

I don't know I use both got mh on my 60 cube and a kessil sky blue on my 29 cube and got say I can keep any Sps. With the kessil got 26 frags under it and kept them for over 6 months and growth is comparable to mh got a tri color Acapora that has grown 4 new branches my cap Monti got 3 different ones grow 1/2 or more. A month bird nest has gone from 1/2 to 4" in two months I know there lot of people say you can't do Sps with the kessil there full of it !

Oh ok... I do have some sps in my tank as well, but I wasn't sure if these would take a nose dive if I switched over to the Kessil. Hearing success stories like your is definitely a plus though. Thanks.

On a side note; how high should the light be suspended above the tank for maximum performance?

I have 160s over my 75g right now and they are about 7" above the water surface. Excellent lights! I am switching this week tho cause I came across a really good deal on 360 kessils I couldn't pass up and it just worked out for my two tank setups. Def recommend the 160s tho I have almost all LPS but I do have one acro I threw in there about a month ago to see how it would do and it looks great. The kessil controller I love too. Very easy to program great features such as the acclimation program all and all I'm a kessil fan for sure
