Kessil a160we for fluval flex

I have a fluval flex 15 and I am using a Kessil a160we over which is mounted at 8” above the water line. I’m using a vdm module to control it with my apex and was wondering what everyone thought about the intensity I should set it to. So far I have a gonipora on the sandbed and a hammer about 3/4 of the way up. I am going to put mostly lps in it with maybe a couple sps at the top. If someone could help me out with a lighting schedule I would really appreciate it. Thanks

on a 20g long, i have the same light. i have two, but at the time that i did par readings, i had one. below is the par readings that i had with that one, at highest level. so, directly under, 18 inches from the lens to teh sand.
if you wanted to do SPS, you should be okayish right under the light, but you will have to keep it toward the top of the scape. i say okayish because if you have an sps that requies 250 or more, then its definately a no. but if you are getting one that can do fine at 180-200, i think you might be alright. it might be a little iffy, so just throwin that out there. you will definately want to get the light closer to the water to be better off

How close are you thinking? 6” or closer than that?

well, i would go no further than 6 inches. its really hard to say without testing par. my light is 8 inches from the top of the water, and at the bottom of the tank, it gets 130ish. i would say that you would probably get about 200 to 225 ish
at the top of the water 6 to 8 inches

I will lower it then to 6” and I’ll have to check it with a par meter. Thanks
