Just ordered my Kessil 350W...I'll try to update here when i get it setup.
FaviaFreak, how's your tank doing? Any updates on the lighting? I was pretty influenced by your thread and your endorsement of Kessil (sentiment seems similar elsewhere as well for those that have written about their Kessil Tuna's), would love to get an update.
Oh my. I just got very excited...
Your tank looks like it is doin GREAT! The reds look amazing!
So how's the manual dimming been? It was the only hang up I had about getting the light. Are you manually dimming daily or do you just have it set to a single setting that turns off and on similar to a halide?
Also, I wanted to ask you, I assume you can ramp the intensity way down (50% or lower), correct? This is my first time using LED (switching from PC) so I'm very worried about melting coral and want to make sure I can have the lights ramped down under 50% if possible. At what intensity did you acclimate your tank to when you first switched over?
Thanks for the awesome pics man! Tank looks gorgeous.
Thanks! those are the flying eyeballsWhat kind of zoa is the 3rd picture? Looks nice!
Hey faviafreak, what lighting did you replace on your tank for the Kessil?
I have one running on about 60% blue, 50% white but am using 4 mesh screens to acclimate to the lighting as my hammer seemed to have gotten burned a bit when using no mesh...I was using PC lighting and have the lighting mounted about 8.5 inches above the tank.
Love the light, but having a hard time understanding the acclimation process...how long did it take you to get to 100% on both channels? I'm almost wondering if the 100% is going to be just too bright for my 20 gal...but when i see your tank running at 100% and looks great, so wanted to hopefully get an idea as to your acclimation process to LED...
Thanks for your help man, here's a pic of my setup, sorry for the bad pic:

I was just looking at these. An LFS around here has 2 of the A350W over a 48" frag tank and they really look good. They have been doing as faviafreak did with acclimation and have had no unhappy frags. I was seriously considering them for my tank, but for now will just supplement my 6-lamp T5 with either DIY strips or stunners. I just can't drop $800 on lights right now when I don't really need them. Tough sell to the CFO.
first thing I noticed is you have it running over a 20L so the depth is only 13"...you could try raising the light higher 13"-14" off the surface or keep them at the present height and just slowly ramp up the intensity weekly..just don't rush it your tank is shallow so at your present height it's really dumping some Par into your tank, these lights have some UV as well, so they pack a punch
Guess I'll stick with the screens and just keep the light settings to what I have now (the corals currently are responding well to the mesh). I also may try your mod to the gooseneck to gain a couple inches on the height then too.
Thanks again dude.
