So, last night I just installed 2 new a360's over my 48" 75g aquarium. I initially had 3 a160we but I felt like I needed a little more power plus I didn't like the fact I had to sit one directly above my center brace. I currently have a mixed tank with mainly LPS, few softies toward the bottom and a birds nest toward the top. My vision is to have more sps and probably a couple acropora. Just wanted to get a few pointers and experience from you guys with the a360's before I damage any of my coral cause I can tell they pack a punch. Right now they're about 7" from the surface. 10 hr cycle, ramp up 2 hrs and peak at 50% for for hrs then ramp down for 4 hrs... Is this OK? I ran my a160s same schedule except they peak at 75%. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

That sounds like a great starting point to me :) Eventually you should be able to ramp them up to around 80-85% (possibly higher if acclimanted) intensity on a tank that size but do it very slowly so you don't upset and potentially kill any coral. I had a pair of A360s over a 40 breeder that I found 70% intensity to be my sweet spot, with your tank being a little taller and longer I would imagine you could ramp them up to 80-85% eventually to achieve the results you're looking for :) Do you have a par meter or know of a local reef club that has one they lend out? That'd be the best way to gauge what kind of power you're putting out. Welcome to the Kessil club! and be sure to share some pictures :D

No, I don't have a par meeting and I'm not even really sure what a reef club is (is this bad?) but I'll look into it lol. I noticed that the 360 s put off a noticeable amount of heat. Do you think having them 7 in from the surface would contribute to my temperature rising?

Some PAR related info here for the same size tank. Your lights are mounted 30% higher and that will have a significant impact on PAR but I think your initial settings are in the ballpark to begin with.

Shouldn't be a problem. I had mine mounted 6.5" off the water surface and never noticed a measurable impact on my tank temp :) A reef club is bascially a local organization that has members and they get together for frag swaps and meetings. Check with your local facebook groups or you can also check R2R under your state and see if any clubs are listed in your area :)

How much acclimation do you think would be needed for sps frags coming from being under 250 watt halides to a frag tank with a Kessil 360WE? The frag tank will either be a 20 long or a 29 (what I have on hand) plumbed into the system.

Sounds like a good starting point. I have a 360NE which has a slightly different light output, but I have it mounted 10" above the water ramping up to max of 80% for 4 hours. Some of my acros are doing just fine and seem to want more (IDK) 1 or 2 bleached a bit but nothing crazy.

My advice is always %5 increments per week. I know it's not alot, but better to be safe than sorry :)

Cool, thanks!

The 360 on my Reefer Nano doesn't increase the temperature at all. It's mounted 8" above the water. It peaks at 45% intensity and I like 60% color, might even go a little higher with the color.

Hi, I have a 75gal tank with 2 Kessil A360W, right now I I have a mix reef with 1/3 of my coals are softie, 1/3 LPS and 1/3 SPS. My lights are set at 50% color and 90% intensity (all corals are doing great). I have the lights 7 inches from the water. What help me out was these two videos from BRS.

I think you’ve gotten good advice, but you may need a 3rd 360we for a 48” wide tank.
On I would love to Install three but I have a center brace so to me it's pointless. Had three a160s and the middle light was just there. Didn't really serve much purpose in my opinion
