Hey everyone, I've got a 32 biocube and just got a used (for about a year) Kessil a360we for it. I had previously been using a 70w chinese point source light that pretty much functions and appears nearly exactly like the kessil, except it has knobs for blue and white instead of color and intensity. It is manufactured by a company called Aquatic System Solutions.
Anyway, upon setting up the Kessil this afternoon it just does not seem to "look" as bright and the blue color does not resemble what I see in other reefers pictures unless I crank it completely blue. I've been playing around with the intensity and anywhere from 70-100% seems decent enough brightness wise, but I know that's probably a little much. I'm just wondering if from others experiences, do these Kessil lights kind of look somewhat not as bright in comparison to others? I know Kessil uses different science for the intensity of their lights and it maximizes PUR instead of PAR which I think may could be contributing to the overall look of it not looking as bright as I expected it to be. I don't have a controller and don't really plan on getting one. I'm not sure if maybe I have a (very expensive) defective light or maybe my expectations were just a little different. Contemplating just finding a way to hang my old reliable Chinese black box.
