I got a Kessil A360X a couple days ago and let me tell you, what a difference from the stock LED strip I got with my AIO 40-gallon Aquatop cube. My lords really opened up and doubled in size within an hour. I actually thought I had good growth before.
My question is: what intensity should I run the light at?
I have it positioned about 8 inches off the water. I have a couple birds nests at the top of the rock work, about 8 inches below the surface. Euphyllias and other LPS from middle to bottom, and some zoanthids and shrooms on or near the bottom.
The tank is a 21.7-inch cube.
I have heard conflicting statements on this light. When I watched the BRSTV review of the light, they kept it at 100 percent, with PAR values rarely going much above 250 (if I remember correctly). The LFS told me I probably shouldn't go above 30 percent, which seems awfully low. Either way, I don't want to bleach any corals by overlighting so I want to be cautious.
Right now I have it at 50 percent at the peak with a gradual increase and decrease during the day.
The tank is about 7 months old and I'm fairly new to the hobby. I was wondering if anyone has any input, or maybe even a tried and tested ideal lighting schedule for a mixed reef with a few SPS at or near the top.
