Just got this new light f on my fuge. I put the setting on grow and should I use this light at full intensity? Anyone know?

clarifying question: did you mean kessil A80 or H80? The A80 is a marine spectrum designed for the display tank, the H80 is the spectrum for algae and refugiums.

I have the H80 Tuna Flora. I have it set on the grow setting, and it grows chaeto like crazy. I don't really think you need to ease these up in settings. It's all about color spectrum. Here's a link to the Kessil site.

So you are saying full blast it?
It's not that powerful a light. I have it about 10" above my fuge and from day 1 I ran it on max intensity on the grow setting for 12 hrs on/off opposite my DT. I guess it wouldn't hurt anything to ramp it up, but I just don't feel it's necessary for this particular light. I have had great success with the light.

Straight to max intensity for me as well. Mounted 7" above the water, it produces just over 100 par right below the surface so you aren't going to cook anything.

I have had no luck with the h80 tuna flora on my 15 gallon refugium. My chaeto kept dying. I used a home depot clamp light and it works great. I chalked it up to being underpowered for my refugium

I have the 380 and second what most say. I run mine full blast for 9 hours opposite my reef lighting to balance the pH. I had it at 12 hours but after dropping my calcium reactors effluent into the refugium the Chaeto grew so fast it stripped my tank of all nutrients.

My fuge is really small, about 12 x 12 area. Probably why it works well for me.

I converted a 1.5 gallon ATO on a Max E170 to a fuge (using a nano overflow). I have the Flora light just above the ATO tank, set to high intensity and grow off cycle to the DT. The chaeto I put in last weekend is now double in size. I seeded the refugium with pods and put a few ML of phytoplankton in every time I feed the DT. Nitrates now undetectable (which isn't great) and phosphates at 0.021

I am fairly happy with my H80. It’s nice bit a lot of $ per watt.

It exceeds expectations for a 15 watt light. Just crank it to max. Algae doesn’t care.

Wait, I'm not following. The 380 is not powerful? I have mine on a 50 gallon 18x32" refugium and I had to cut the time down. The light covers a 25"18" area at less than 10" off the water. My plan was to buy two eventually but the one is pulling too much out of my 600 gallon system.
