So I just picked up about 15 different frag‘s from @AquaSD Including , Acros, LPS and softies which look amazing. I was curious about the acclimation setting with the AP 700. I have them all sitting in a frag rack with my lights off today and a lot of them have most of their color back. I know there are different methods to acclimating them but was curious if anyone uses the acclimation pre set mode that comes with the light or they just dial back their original light schedule

When I used my AP700 for the first time, I used the acclimation mode but that was it. I never used it when I added corals, I just moved my rack up slowly. It helps to know what lights the frags were under but I think you can just move them up gradually. It is a strong light.

I would be weary of any lights “acclimation mode” it seems like the best of both worlds slow and automatic, but this is not always the case. Sometimes its easier to simply cut back the photoperiod to say x hours and manually add time or slowly slide up a frag rack overtime, than trust that a light automatically adding 1% each day is the best course.

OP,

Any update on your corals' acclimation? Can u screenshot your program if it has been constant the whole time?

So I kept my same light schedule that I had I just adjusted my frag rack by moving it up slighlty on week 2. All my corals have been good except one. I took it off the rack and placed it in a lower flow but the polyps are still fully retreated and it might be due to low salinity but idk.

Thx for sharing. Glad to see 55% wasnt too strong for your LPS/softies down on the sandbed. My unit is on way too long (7am-9pm) because I want to view it when at home.

Yea I might have to dial it down a bit when I start placing them on my rocks, but I’m more concerned about my flow. They love the lights because as soon as it comes on everyone has full extension. I work night shift as well, that’s why I start my lights a little later in the day

I just added an AP 700 to my IM 80 shallow mixed reef just this week. Put on pre set acclimation. Had cheaper not as strong lights before. I’m afraid of frying everything. Is this good for now? And how long? After acclimated I need help with light schedule. Having a hard time finding any info. Any tips greatly appreciated!
