I'm interested in feedback on what kind of coverage people are getting with a single Kessil AP700 on a 48" tank. I'm picking up a Red Sea Reefer and ideally I'd like to get the 350 which is 48" wide but if the light isn't really going to cut it, I'll get the 250 which is 36" wide. I'm going to have lower light coral but don't want totally dark, shadowed sides.

I think you can get away with one for lower light corals. It will cover a 48" tank at 15"-18" above the tank. Any lower and you might get some shadowing on the edges.

I have one over a 48 inch long. Covers just fine. I only have one sps and mostly all lps. They're all happy

Thanks for the feedback. I'm really glad I'll be able to go with the 48" tank.

I have a Kessil AP 700 over my reefer 350. Tank isn't stocked, but this might give you an idea of coverage. Mine is about 13" over the tank. Sorry the picture is a little over exposed, but you can see the light arching on to the wall.

That looks great. What are you going to be adding to your RS350?

Thanks SnoQ. For equipment I have a Tunze DOC 9410 skimmer, an Ehiem compact + 3000 return pump, and a maxpect gyre 150 and the Kessil AP 700. The tank is cycled now. (I used a table shrimp) The cycle took about a month and a half. I have two clownfish in Quarantine and some zoanthids in quarantine. One of my clownfish isn't doing to well. So I am medicating and waiting. So for now I have a nice tank with water and rocks. Lol. Patience for me. What are you putting in your tank?

I have a 180g mixed reef right now but decided I want to separate fish and coral. At least for the most part. I like SPS but love LPS. So I've sold most of my SPS already and plan to sell the rest at our local annual frag swap. I'm going to focus mostly on blastos, acans, chalices, favias, lobos and a few acanthophyllia plus some zoas. I'm adding some MarinePure bio media so I can get a strong pod population going and I'll eventually add a pipefish or two. As for equipment, I have an Apex system, Reef Octopus Classic 152-S skimmer, Waveline Apex ready DC10000 return pump, a Bubble Magus 3 pump auto doser and a Tunze ATO. I have an MP40 Quiet Drive that I was going to use on the 180 that will go on this new tank instead. I plan to run fairly low flow so that should be enough, but if not I'll add another.

Actually they do run it blue. It just depends on what depth of the sea they are trying to mimic.

For those of you running over a 48" tank, how far off the water do you have it? I saw the new mounting arms they have for the AP700 and I'd rather use one vs suspending the light, but it seems like it might be close on whether or not it'll be high enough for 48" coverage.

My reefer 450. I was going to go with the ap700 myself but 5 foot tank would've needed 2. The lights amazing when it comes to lighting the tank but unfortunately it's still not tech savvy. No apex support and only can be run by an iPad. @rage1199 talk to him about maybe making a deal on one.

And android. Android app was released just after Christmas.

I agree with the Apex control but they still are saying, unlike Ecotech Vectra pumps, they will be.

I got 2 for my 72"x27"x27" tank
Yeah, I called kessil directly and spoke to a rep. They're working on an iPhone app before getting it over to Neptune to have a program written. Without a close time frame in mind, I couldn't pull the trigger. Plus I really like the way the 4 360N look with the mounts from Aaron at www.6061.com. Which btw, he has something similar in the works for the ap700. Real nice guy. Hit him up for a sleeker, sexier mount

Gotcha.
I am piecing stuff together so could be close to a year before it's setup.
I'll check his stuff out.
