Just curious if everyone else is having the same problem with the latest ipad update. I'm on the latest firmware and app but noticed that the effects, Ie.. Cloud, Storm, Aurora and rainbow are no longer working. They worked for me before the update. Thanks in advance.

I have several but haven't updated the software - is there any feature of the release that I should update for? I guess I can check kessil - but thanks for the heads up.

Only improvement I have noticed is when you setup and pick a mode it seems to save it much better and does not turn off sometimes like it did before. Other than that it still has a few bugs. I called Kessil and they said they are working on the software very hard to get us an update. I emailed them regarding this new problem but have not heard back from them. Funny thing is on the release notes it says the update fixes the effects that sometimes don't work. Mine worked before but no longer does. Go figure.

yup same issue. As well as others. And I'd like to know how they get away with having their web site say the AP700 has full control of all the led color channels. They are not even close. And I think what irks me the most is that not one review by sites like ReefBuilders even mentioned all of these little things we would have to wait for updates in order for the unit to work properly. I didnt pay $1000 for updates. I wish sites would be more honest, because I would not have bought this fixture knowing what I know now.

Hopefully we will get an update soon. I really love the look of the fixture, the light and shimmer it puts out. Once we have a fully functioning app I'm sure we will be happy.

I keep telling myself the same thing. I really hope that is the case, I'm a big fan of Kessil. I own a 350 and 2 360's and really love them, especially the 350. I guess something can be said about simplicity.
As for the update(s), I called Kessil and spoke to Franco Chan.. he's suppose to be the AP700 guy. He told me after an update the fixture needs to be re connected to your wifi and re configured with the app. That seemed to fix the weird issues. The effects still don't seem to work properly. I can get cloud effects but it's not very good .

Unreal how such a faulty product could get released. I went out of town for a weekend after the second week to come home to one of my two lights on when it shouldn't be. Found out it was turning on at midnight and staying on. Fried about 8 high end acros. Lost probably close to $1000. After the update I now have one light that turns on at midnight for a 30 second storm. Fish get startled but I can't manually control the lights every day. Just got a sorry for the bugs were working on it response. Love Kessil products but it's been such an inconvenience, not to mention disheartening loss of high end corals. The program is an integral part of the product so I'm surprised nobody has threatened them with a lawsuit or something.

I'm a little happier after the new update. I'm still having many of the same issues (one light turns off while other is on even though they are in same schedule). I would like full control of all colors like my hydras. I really wish that kessil would just relinquish control to my apex for full control and then not need to worry about updates.

After several resets, upgrading to the latest firmware and Ipad app, my effects still are not working. I called Kessil yesterday and they are sending out a new fixture. Knew this would be risky buying something so new. I sure hope Kessil gets these bugs worked out as I love the look of the fixture and the light and shimmer it puts out is amazing.

I feel your pain. I had a similar thought, more on that later. Kessil has been doing lights for a long time and had been working on the ap700 for a few years. They seem to have getting the light into the water down. But I'm sorry designing an app/web page for 6-7 led channels is not rocket science. There are probably kids at the high school i work at that could do a better job.
About those thoughts before buying. I think I'm more upset with myself because I know better. I have enough experience to know that newly released electronics almost always have bugs. I'm also upset with myself because I watched every (that I know of) video and review I could find about the ap700. And over the course of all of them I had some major questions about the fixture. One being the "full" control of led channels. Not one of the reviews or videos i watched mentioned anything about only being able to program one color at a time. They didn't even mention anything about the bugs the app had. Which makes me wonder how much I can believe the good things that were said about the unit. They obviously didn't test the unit very well.
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me is kinda where I stand with regards to Kessil at the moment

I have 5 of these on my system -

The setup I run is to slave four of the lights to one master and set them all in the same control group running a custom schedule.

I have once had one light stay on - using the "findme" showed the one stuck light could not be located and one other light responding to its proper address as well as the address of the "out of sync" fixture.

The only sure fire way to correct the issue was to start over - reprogramming each light to a new master.

The only thing I want (other than the android app) is the ability to define custom colors, using independant color channels, and to be able to use them in my program definitions.

Their app is close - not perfect - definately usable - but it isn't done until custom color definitions are supported.

taking the software completely out of the conversation, would you take this light over a xr30? (not the pro version) were your SPS's loving life until they got murdered by the psycho light in the middle of the night (that rhymed)
