I feel your pain. I had a similar thought, more on that later. Kessil has been doing lights for a long time and had been working on the ap700 for a few years. They seem to have getting the light into the water down. But I'm sorry designing an app/web page for 6-7 led channels is not rocket science. There are probably kids at the high school i work at that could do a better job.
About those thoughts before buying. I think I'm more upset with myself because I know better. I have enough experience to know that newly released electronics almost always have bugs. I'm also upset with myself because I watched every (that I know of) video and review I could find about the ap700. And over the course of all of them I had some major questions about the fixture. One being the "full" control of led channels. Not one of the reviews or videos i watched mentioned anything about only being able to program one color at a time. They didn't even mention anything about the bugs the app had. Which makes me wonder how much I can believe the good things that were said about the unit. They obviously didn't test the unit very well.
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me is kinda where I stand with regards to Kessil at the moment
