Kessil Gooseneck Base submerged in tank

Hi everyone, I have a quick question, and hoping its not going to be a major problem in my tank.

So the paint on my two Kessil gooseneck base paint are already stripped up to where the waterline is (submerged part), and now the metal is already exposed. I'm guessing its aluminum?

I've read mixed things about it, but anyone in here have long term experience with their gooseneck base in the water? Any dangers that I need to be aware of?

Raising the base is out of the question, because there wont be enough surface to safely or securely attach the base. Are there other option to mount the Kessils other than ceiling mount?

Yes the base should be machined Aluminum. I've experienced no issues on 3 different tanks with the bases submerged in water. Also no paint defects. Maybe contact Kessil on a replacement base if you have POP.

Would it be possible to have a small acrylic box made that would sit in the tank against the back panel. The light mount could sit down in the box and when you tighten the mount it will hold the box in place.
Temporally, you could use something like the food vacuum storage bag (or maybe just a zip lock bag or fish bag) over the mount until you know it is safe.

Yeah you're right. I'll look for something plastic that I can fit on the wet side of the bracket. Maybe a small jewelry box or some sort, since the screw doesn't actually touch the glass. It only screws in up to the plastic block (I'm not sure though, I'll have to double check).

Should I be worried about possible Aluminum leach?

Was the paint on yours got stripped too by any chance?

No still ok it actually has coralline algae on it

That's weird. Others get stripped, and others don't.

Maybe depends on individual's tanks chemistry. I dosed carbon for a few weeks, but stopped doing it last month. That's the only chemical I put in my tank.
