I saw the 360w kessils in person today and I gotta say I was pretty impressed. Maybe enough to sell my lumantek 180s I don't know maybe. Your chance to convince me. Go

Just do it. :D If you get them, make sure you get the new 360we version that is 15% brighter. :)

I actually think the shimmer is almost too much for my tastes, but I would be supplementing with T5s, anyway.

Critter has 5(?) Kessils on the 6' tank in the back. 4 360W's and 1 360N. All Tuna Blue. They look really nice, but honestly, like Brandon said, it's almost TOO much shimmer. Looks very "strobey" to me, and I don't handle blinky lights like that too well.

I saw that tank yesterday and I didn't like it at all. Way to much shimmer.

I think they suck too but I told someone on the NRC that and I was told they don't so they are the best light I have ever seen not they still suck
lol

Once you put t5's with the Kessil's, the shimmer is lessened quite a bit. I run a Kessil A360we with 4x24" t5's btw.

But if you have to run T5s with them doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of LEDs a little bit?

I do not run t5's in order to get rid of the glitter lines. In fact, I wish the lines were more pronounced with the t5's. I run t5's due to the shading nature of LED's.

I think any Leds need some T5 suplimentation. Leds are way too directional and like maximus said, they need T5s to help fill in the shadow effect caused by the directional led. I think if you use the right balance of led:T5 they look great and will grow great looking coral. I agree that too many of the kessil fixtures alone on a large tank is very strobey. One or two on a small tank looks ok.

I have 4 360w's on my tank and love them. Besides the light they give off and the adjustable color they consume almost no power. Plus I think they are gorgeous. If anyone wants to see them let me know.
