I know this question has many variables, but what is the average life expectancy of the 160 Tuna blue lights?

Following along. I was under the impression that they should last about five years. I have the 360we and it’s still going at 2.5 years: I think kessil only warranties for a year

I can only share my own personal experiences. I have had a few failures of the 360WE but none yet of the 160WE. I have six of them, most in the 3-4 year old range, though one I bought right as the 150 was being phased out .... how long ago is that? So for me, average is nominally 3.5 years so far with no failures yet.

how long did your 360we last? Just curious. Thanks!

One failed within the two year warranty and was replaced; two died beyond the warranty and I was offered a discounted replacement. Both of the latter around 3 years old.

Wow, that’s not good. I have 3 that are more than 6 years old and working fine.

Perhaps you are more diligent about cleaning them than I am .....

I have 5 360s coming up on 4 years & a 160 that's a little over a year. Keep them clean & blow out with canned air monthly. No issues and as quiet as they were new.

I got my a350 in December 2012. I estimate the hours at 22,500. If I get 35,000 hours that's almost another 3.5 years so that would be more than 11 years of continuous use if that happens. I do have an a360 that is newer that blinks when turned on and occasionally throughout the day. It started a couple of years ago and I expected to have to replace it at any time but it still hasn't died.

The secret to keeping them working is fully cleaning them at least once a year. Kessil do not make this easy and really you should just void your warranty and completely take it apart to clean it since a light working 10 years post warranty is better then the chance of breaking it while under warranty.

It’s actually the H380 I’ve had the most trouble with. Fan doesn’t hold up. Replaced once under warranty, self repaired once it was out of warranty.

I think that’s exactly right, and something I’m remiss at doing. I have a spare 360 that I’m thinking I’ll rotate through the four on my big tank so that I can disassemble and deep clean them at my leisure.

How do you clean it after you break down? Aerosol?

The video is good. I've stripped some screws, even broke the glass on one, but it's also kept them working long term. I haven't seen anyone take apart the 360x's but apparently they are easier to clean. If you have more then one it really is an afternoon of cleaning, especially if they have never been cleaned. I do mine about every 1-1.5 years and if it wasn't such a headache I would do them more often.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I have 2 160s that came with the the running setup I purchased used. This past summer I noticed the one side of the tank was deeper blue in the evening compared to the other. I purchased a new replacement for the one that seemed to be faulty, now I'm noticing the other older one is doing the same thing. They work fine it's that the blues with the older one is definitely lighter. They are linked together with the kessil controller. Do the blues eventually wash out over time?

If I'll use Kessil 160 during the day at 100% and during the night at 10%, 24h operation will shorten it's life?

How long do the leds actually last for? People make it big deal about using leds instead of t5s because they won't ever have to change bulbs but in reality the leds don't last forever and within 5years of use i bet they are pretty much done.
