I have recently stumbled onto these kessil lights, very interested in them for possible purchase down the road. Need to budget ;)

I have a 120 gallon 48x24x24 and was wondering can you get enough spread with 2x a360we ?

any feedback pros and cons on these would be great ?

Thanks

I have them. Over a 55. I love them. I think a 120 would be too much for them tho. If you really want them, I'd consider 3, or supplement 2 360s with two 160s. I think youll just get way too much shadowing on a tank that big with just two.

I have 2 tuna blue 360 WE over my 120 with the same dimensions. Mixed LPS, SPS mostly. Doing fine at 70% power. If you want high light demand corals they may not work for you. Ive thought about supplementing with some T5s for high light demand corals. Although, with my current set up all is fine.

I would at least go with 3 Kessils and 4 t5's. That way you will get good coverage and PAR and keep the wonderful Kessil shimmer.

Rich, I am running 360s, 160s and even one of the new A80s. Swing by and have a look. Simon.

How do you feel about the A80? I was thinking about getting one for a macro algae tank. What kind of spred do you get with it?

I had 2 Kessil A360We over my 126g which is roughly 48"x24"x31". While the Kessils are amazing LEDs, 2 was not enough for all the coral in my tank, which is mixed with a lot of high light SPS. After 2 years of using these lights and before switching to LED T5 combo, I would recommend a minimum of 3 for tanks with similar dimensions and coral, 4 being ideal. Just my .02 cents! If at all interested, I still have my Kessils sitting on a shelf. ;)

Great lights, 2 of them may work fine on your tank with simplistic rock scape and soft and lps corals. For SPS you need four of them IMO

I appreciate everyone's feedback. I will have to stop by simons to see how the spread looks.

The spread is good. Easily does 24x24; the issue is that it's a 15 watt light (I think?) and the intenssity is not great. I'd view it as a 12x12x12 light if mounted 6 inches above the water surface to grow stuff. I use mine over a QT tank.

Simon

I will text you. Would love to stop by and take a look

Thanks

Got some chaeto you can have if you still need it.

I have a A360WE and get good spread over my 24" tank.

You may be able to get away with 2 and add a third if needed

1- kessil 360WE 50% intensity

The 'problem' with these lights, indeed with any point source, is shading. Two 360s would easily cover a 48x24 surface, even for SPS. Trouble is that SPS has this annoying habit of growing. I initially used three of the 360s over my 7' 265, but have gradually added three 160s to combat shading.

I have three A360WEs over my 125 gallon tank. I agree with the shading issue. I have also added two 80W T5s, but I'm looking at filling in with either A80s or A160s, depending on what's available.
