I have a standard 40b with a 16" Synergy overflow and one 3/4" return line drilled through the back glass and I am looking to add a pair of Kessil a360we's to the tank. I was going to use the mounting arms or another rim mount for them, would this be okay? Just worried about the strength of the glass with the amount of holes that are in it. I was just going to use the cabinet mounts but my stand is built so the plumbing goes down through the top of it, so I don't think the arms would reach the center of my tank if I used the Kessil cabinet mounts.

Thanks for any help or advice you could give.

Can you mount them to the sides?

Yeah I could but I don't really want the wires running down or along the side of the tank. I found some aftermarket cabinet mounts but they are very expensive. Debating on DIYing something if I can't run mount them.

You should be fine. Just keep the arms away from the holes. The lights don't weigh much.

Well there's not much room on either side of the overflow to keep them away from them too far. I might just get me some conduit and make some arms to mount to the cabinet. Would cost less than one of the Kessil arms.

Is there any way you can mount them on the ceiling with some aircraft cable?

Don't want to hang them. Really don't like seeing the lights at all. I'll probably build a canopy for it anyways but I don't want the lights mounted in the canopy either. I'd like to be able to take it off for maintenance and not have to worry about the wires.
