Tank in question Nuvo 20 aio
I have been considering purchasing an Orphek Compact to replace a single Kessil a360x or switching to two Kessils. Tank is no where near to the point of being concerned about shading from the single point light, but would like to be prepared for when the time comes. Plus I know it would be better to grow out my frags under the same light system from frag to colony vs making the switch once they mature.
I have concidered hybrid t5/led my concensus is that I would have to leave the back 1 or 2 bulbs out of the available systems on the market, or would there potential benifit to having the front t5 hang about 1/2 inch over the glass allowing more light reflection to the front/underside of sps colonies as well as leaving 1 of the rear bulbs in.(concerned about throwing to much light down the rear filtration chamber will probably purchase intank cover to help).

Edit: I can't edit the title and apparently noir can I spell ;Facepalm

Thanks

24" orphek Blue plus will blow your mind and do wonders for coral and coral color

Do you have a recommendation as to how many or a mix of blue plus and daylight?
My limited knowledge thinks that 1 wouldn't provide enough coverage/even coverage for once things hit colony size (may be wishful thinking, but hoping for success)
Looking at growing out things like Stags, maybe one or two tabling acro, Torts, and some various branching acro. Stylo and monti, but not to concerned as they grow like weeds.

Do you not have enough light now? That is a 20 gallon tank and 2 a360x's would be overkill. I have 4 over my 210 gallon to put it into perspective.

Edit: I enjoy my kessil's but struggling with the thought of needing more (my issues, not yours :) ). Having said that and spending other peoples money there is another option although pricier but a cleaner install would be to consider the ATI straton (1100 or so bucks) or the Philips Coral Care gen 2 (close to 1k when adding controller module). Both would provide a single source of light with full coverage.

Just do both...ROFL

Very clean indeed. Maybe once I get my home and set up the dream tank but then I think T5/orphek........ plus I don't think I could cram that over a 20 gallon (contemplates taking a circular saw to the center of an orphek... Slaps self in face) o_O

Reefi is releasing a new smaller light next week I believe. Their lights are soooo nice, you should definitely consider it!

I was talking with a Rep from Orphek the other day. He was saying two blue plus with one daylight makes a very pleasing color. Three 24" bars would be perfect coverage for what you're looking for. Otherwise, if you want to use the kessil, I'd use two 24" blue bars for supplement.

will look into that, but pretty set on orphek or kessil orphek comp. Really want to try out panel led on this tank. All previous experience was with a Kessil 150 or cheap light of amazon (actually worked pretty good)

Thanks I will look into this set up.

No one likes the concept of the compact v4 huh?

I'm sure it will do just fine, but seems like quite a waste of money for a tank of that size. The only way I personally could justify using that light, is if I were planning on going with a larger tank if the future where I'd use that light. Also, the bars will give much better spread of light vs the compact. But if that's what you really want to do, then go that route. I don't think you can go wrong with any option here.

Thank you, I do plan on going larger at one point, but not for over a year or two probably so I think I'll take a look into the bars more as I can always do something with those down the road as supplement or frag system.
