hi all as title can't make my mind up on what light to use i have both the tank is 18x18x18 sps mainly towards the top lps at the bottom

Why not use both? I’ve had an AI Prime & Kessil a360 together over my water box 20.

I think it is simply about picking your flavor. The output and par will be similar. The only thing I would say is that a single point source light is not ideal for sps. You would likely be better with a couple smaller lights to get better coverage. For example 2 a160 kessils or 2 primes. If that seems crazy then 2 a80s instead of 1 a160.

2 primes or a single 32 would be better. The 2 primes will yield better coverage and more potential par. I have a single prime 16 on a 12” cube frag tank and it barely provides enough par sps on the bottom half. You could probably get away with 1 unit if the sps are located closer to the light source but you would need another fixture later if your plans are to go wall to wall sps.

I've had both, and I have to say SPS growth response has been a far better with the Kessil 360s, this is just from my experience... I like AI, but the PRIMEs are just not as strong as the Kessils. Goodluck...

To be clear we need to compare lights of equal wattage A prime is equivalent to an A160 both at around 50 watts and a 360/360x is equivalent to a hydra 32 both at around 90watts.
