Kessil Spectral Controller X problems

So, I went to Aquaworld, today. Picked up some frags and a Spectral Controller X for my A80. Got back, opened the box, and wouldn’t you know it - no connecting wires for the A80. Ok, no big deal. Box says to use 3.5mm headphone connectors. ———blah blah blah———long story longer. It didn’t work. I plugged one end into the input on the A80 and the other into the controller; nothing. So, what am I doing wrong? Did I buy the broken one?

A little off topic, but how was the frag selection?

A lot of LPS in the frag tanks. Mainly Acans, favia, a few Euphylia, and some encrusting. They also had some shiny new frags of brightly colored Goni’s.
