Finally made the side step from led to t5 led hybrid.
Quick back story. Order a ati t5 hybrid (24 x 4) a couple weeks ago. After I got it I decided it would work fine for my dual 40 build so I ordered another. After a week of waiting for it to ship from ati, I got a refund email with a explanation. Light is currently not being made any more pending a new version coming out. No big deal. Asked marine depot if I could return it, they said no because I threw one of the boxes out.
So being stuck with it I decided to utilize it. Ended up switching it out on my 45 with the kessil 700. I have always hated the growth in my tank with this light and the spectrum upset me also. Might be because I have black substrate. Everyone else has growth with it but me for some reason.
Put 2 blues, a actinic, and a coral plus in it. Set it up. Programing is way nicer than the 700, actually connects and works right. Moon light string is actually awesome.
Color is amazing. Par out put is crazy. Max par from my kessil was around 600 1” under the surface. Ati is in the 1100 range with the plexi off, I got a hammer and a blasto that can vouch for that unfortunately. Didn’t think 15 minutes of 1000 + par would smoke em. It did.
All in all I am extremely happy with the light upgrade and will not use anything that doesn’t have t5’s space willing.
So props to ati for making me love my tank again.
