Hello everyone! I'm in the process of setting up a reef in a 12 gallon nano cube. I primarily plan on getting soft and LPS corals, but I might get into SPS corals sometime down the road. For now, I want to stick with simple corals such as polyp colonies, kenya trees(green), mushrooms, and then maybe an Acan and open brain for LPS.

This is the LED version of the Nano Cube, with aftermarket blue LEDs added by the previous owner. Would the Kassil be overkill for this aquarium? If so, are there any recommendations for LEDs for this tank if I go with an open-top style? I appreciate any help on this I can get! This is my first LED setup, and I don't know much about them...

I am also looking at the AI Prime HD. Does anyone have any experience with this in a nano tank?

a 160 would be fine, the prime would be over kill but cooool!

are the leds in the lid bad?

Thank you for the response! I realize the prime would be overkill, but as far as I can tell it's less expensive than the Kassil. I can always adjust it to the corals too. Those fixtures are absolutely amazing.

EDIT: The LEDs in the hood are standard, but I guess the blue LEDs that the owner added are somewhat of an improvement to the stock lights.

How about the SB reef par38 bulb/gooseneck?
And WOW I've never heard of this. Would it be able to support any coral I throw into the tank? Or would I need something stronger if I got, lets say, some sort of acropora? Thanks for the help!

I would think you could do a kessil a80 on that tank. Add a second down the road if you need more juice!

I just looked up the a80 and it seems perfect... The design is awesome as well, and you can't beat it at half the price of the a160!!! Thank you for the recommendation!

Yeah. I would go 2 of those for better spread and less shading over a single 160. But certainly start with 1 and see how it goes first.
