Got a new kessil a360w. Set it at about 50% and everything was reaching. Nem was crawling up towards light. Turned it up to aprox 80% same thing. Now have it at 100%. comes on at 10am and runs at 100% until 9pm.

Nuvo fusion 40 tank.

Is this light not sufficient for this size tank?

I've never had a problem with my Kessil A360we's and corals reaching for light and I've been using them since 2013. I can barely run over 50% intensity or I fry stuff. We need more info on your lighting setup.

What do you wanna know? Its not on a controller. Just turned up to max on a timer. 10am-9pm. Like 8-10inches off water. Screen top.

Yea , that’s fine % and time. That Light is about perfect for that tank.

Nems will do that IMO, mine is being blasted and still does it.
what else is reaching ?

When you say you turned it up to 50%, are you referring to color, or intensity? Try lowering it to around 6.5 to 7" off the waters surface. You shouldn't have to turn that light to up to more then 70-75% power. On my 40 breeder (which is only 2 inches shorter) I was getting high 200's to low 300 par value all over the tank at 70%. And be careful, they may be reaching now, but these lights are alot more powerful than people give them credit for. At 100% you may bleach them. they may reach as they're not used to the new light, or as salty said they sometimes reach just because lol. Give them time to adjust :)

I mean my pulsing zenia is extended about as far as it can go. I'll snap some pics today.

100%intensity. Color is just set to a nice balance that I liked.

I had a 165w reefbreeders type led on it before. Ran that thing at like 15% white 30%blue and it would bleach new corals. So figured it was to much and went with a nice light. So maybe the corals I have are just used to intense light.

I have a 55 gallon mixed reef with two a360we tuna blues about 6.5 inches above the water. I ramp up to 40% color and 100% intensity, and stays at that level for 5 hours, then ramps back down. The lights are on for a total of 12 hours. I’ve had the lights for a year now, and everything in the tank is happy. When I first got them, I used the acclimation mode for a while....so I probably didn’t get to 100% intensity for a couple months. Anyway....enjoy the lights!! [emoji106][emoji3]

Yea I mean everything seems happy. Maybe just used to higher intensity so they are getting used to it.

I have 3 360we and 2 160we on my 150 at 55% at it highest peek during the 10 hour cycle and all my corals are growing very well, I mainly go by coral placement depending on the corals natural habitat

I think that light is ok for that tank size at 100% all though you won’t get crazy high PAR levels if you like playing with acro color shifting which I notice between 300-500 PAR.

I think if it’s that high your going to end up with a lot of cyano and other algae and cause more damage than it’s worth.. they don’t need to be at 100% at full peak.. but that’s my opinion

No issues for the past few weeks but I will keep an eye on things!

I running 2x Kessil A360WE 100% both color and intensity full peak on a 40B tank for 8 hours then ram down to off time schedule, I have no cyano or major issue of other algae, It's your nutrition export need to balance.

Yes. Seems like it blocks a ton of light. But have a wrasse so need it on.
I'm also running the IM screen top on my Innovative Marine 50g Lagoon. I'm running a single Kessil A360WE over the tank with LPS, Softies, and BTA's. I run max intensity at 75% for 9 hours and color at 20%. This seems to be working for me. I did have issues with coral not growing for the first year when I was only running the light around 50%. Its seems that the IM screen blocks a lot of light. On a previous tank I only had the Kessil at 60%, but I wasn't using the IM screen top.

Hmm, my BTA was quite happy running 60% color and 40% intensity that was on a parabola so average intensity was much lower (12 hour photo-period). This was about 12" below the surface with the Kessils mounted 5" above the water. Max PAR at that time was about 80 in that location.

The cyano comment regarding intensity is baseless so I wouldnt use that as a factor in your settings. You can go a lot longer with lower intensity than higher so I'd still probably drop it down to about the 60% range for a while but if nothing reacts negatively, there is no harm running it that high.
