yes you need to buy the controller but well worth the money and can control 2 kessils at a time.

With a Kessil Controller you can adjust intensity/color and times to ramp up/down. With just a 360we and no controller, you will be stuck at your set intensity/color throughout the day... but you could add a outlet timer to it to cut the power off and on at certain times.

As far as I know the dongle is only compatible with the 360x

Tip, if you do buy the controller, pick up a 90% adapter for the lead so it is less noticeable, as amazingly it doesn’t come with one, so the lead sticks out the top, they may have added this now but I doubt it.

Kessil do the connector but it’s expensive as you replace the whole cable too, but you can pick up a connector, a 90 degree stereo connector for a couple of dollars

AFAIK there's an ordinary 3.5 mm stereo jack to enter two analog 0..10V signals.
Starting at the tip of the plug there's channel one, channel two, then ground.
Use whatever 10V signal generator you like.

I purchased the 360we this week.Arrived today all up and working I’m I love all over again

A simple wifi timer plug works great for turning on and off the lights and you can also turn them on or off from your phone. Best thing is you can get them at Home Depot for 10$.

if the x controller is wireless with that model then I would definitely pay the extra, setting up and changing things can be a pain as my controller is inside the stand, as I didn’t want 2 thick wires showing, the wires being not long enough so I need to bend down and I also believe the x has extra controls for the lights, but just for the ease of setup I would pay the extra.

I opted for the spectral X controller for my two daisy-chained 360we's - been using it for close to two years now with no issues. It's the same price as the "A" and it has a more vibrant screen and allows you to control 360x's if you ever upgrade. just my 2 cents.

When/if you get a controller for your Kessil's - let me know and I can help you set a sunrise-sunset preset for your tank. Will just need dimensions and I can tweak from what works great for me to what will work for you.
