Kevan's Reef Adventures Cubed

Nice and clean! I'm off th the basement to clean up my under cabinet wiring! [emoji4]

Looks great man! Can't wait to see it with water in.

I really thought I had figured out my plumping with math....nope lol. On the other had I have a DC pump with six speeds. It definitely still took a lot of messing to get everything happy.

Changed out all of my rodi filters, as well as added an additional carbon block. My filtration system now goes as follows
  • Stage one: GE 1 micron ROSave.Z sediment filter
  • Stage two: BRS Universal 1 Micron Carbon Block
  • Stage three: BRS Universal 1 Micron Carbon Block
  • Last stage: DI Resin
I am now making water to fill the tank! hoping to have it filled by tomorrow night.

Looking good! I can't wait to see this filled and running with water.

P.S. Your stand is gorgeous! Can you build me one? That is one of my biggest regrets so far on only having 1 door to get to everything underneath.

Keep up the good work!

Tank filled

We have water folks! Breaking in my skimmer and what not. Will be adding my rock and sand this week sometime. Can't wait to start this cycle!

New equipment

I built a pair of Avast Marine MR5 reactors last night. The kit was very nice, pretty much everything fit perfect and went together quick minus the 4 hours of dry time between steps. These things are built to last and make my tlf150 reactors look like junk comparatively. The keyhole locking lid is going to be extremely nice for changing media instead of spending 5 minutes trying to twist off a lid. I also built a manifold to run them powered by a Sicce Syncra 1.5.
This tank is completely run on Sicce pumps now and I have to say they are all dead silent. Return (syncra 3.0) Manifold (syncra 1.5) Skimmer (custom sicce)

Size comparison to a 2L bottle and tlf 150. The size description makes it sound like it is similar to the tlf150 but as you see here they are quite a bit larger.

Manifold built with two 3/4" spears gate valves (pricey but worth it) and a 3/4" ball valve.

My cycle has run its course. Took about 12 days from adding Dr. Tims, some seed rock, and a couple shrimp. I was expecting it to take somewhere around 5 weeks using dry rock so I'm happy. I went ahead and transfered my pair of Darwin clowns. Won't move anything else over for another few weeks at least to be safe. All my equipment is broken in and working great. I heard a lot of horror stories about people not being able to tune the Omega 130. I ran it without the collection cup on for about a week and now its running great, even at a depth of 8.5 inches.

I may add some more rock. although the scape looks much larger and nicer looking than these pics make it seem. Trying to create two islands with a canyon between. The front right island will be anemone dominate.

WOW! I love seeing tanks that are this well thought out turn out as awesome as this is coming along! And btw, your photography skills are excellent.

Wow super nice build! You got me beat hands down. I just didn't have the time that you did. Super nice!!!
