Any Key's to keeping Aussie Scoly's Alive?

I have lost 3 Aussie scolys and my local buddy lost a bleeding apple as well. Just slowly starts receding into nothing. I am losing one right now.

Any ideas?

have you been feeding it regularly, any dips?

I got another scoly I'm trying to revive that I just picked up.. only a tiny patch of flesh is left... but I got it eating again.. info and pics to come..

iodine dip fast (Lugol's solution)...15 mins, no other solution at this point

So far my collection is doing fine. Cross fingers, one was showing flesh but the meat is starting to cover it up, guess which one it is.

So more of you are experiencing this? Do you think they are used to lower temps?

great topic. i bought quite a few damaged ones a while back thinking it would be no problem to bring back. well lets just say that there are a few left and i am talking to them both like the plants in the house when i water them "how we doing today guys?" the survivors of the lil crash of last may or so. when photobucket hurts to look at you know it is a bad week.

Hey rev,

From my experience they must be fed and they will eat a lot!!! I try to feed mine every other day.

I stuff mine with PE Mysis everytime i get a chance. Yep, they will eat all day long!

I feed mine around twice a week, I actually soak the Mysis and little chucks of clams in Zoe/vitamin C. I notice the colors are more vibrant.

this is a piece I just picked up, hopefully can save it and actually looks to be doing much better than 3 days ago...

10 minute stronger solution of coral revive dip

15-30 minute bath in a solution of ultimate aminos every few days

and target fed mysis every night

Rev, you been feeding them well?

Actually when they start to recede, they don't want to accept food. Either their feeders don't come out, or they will not latch on to the food.

But no, I don't feed them hardly ever......bad daddy...

I should say that when they start looking bad, i try to feed and then thats when its tough to get them to eat.

Dooly, looks like it coming back strong...At least it is balloning up a bit. Usually when they are receeding they are just flat.

Hmm mine looks great and i only feed it once a week sometimes twice.

but Rev said he feeds em when they start to look bad.. that could be MONTHS without feeding.. LOL

i say do a lugols or revive dip followed by an amino dip and feed regularly..

Well I might feed them one every week or so, but I was under the impression they would catch what they needed from the water column.

They will catch whatever comes their way, but nothing beats direct feeding.

I tried one. It would never show a feeding response, and the tissue was slowly receeding. Gave it to a frined, and it puffed right up and began to feed. No clue, but never trying one again.
