Could you please clarify if limpets are generally harmful to reefs or if there are specific species that are considered reef-safe? I would appreciate any information you can provide.

It would seem there are some types of limpets that would be considered non reef safe as they may eat certain types of coral, but my tank is loaded with keyhole limpets and they don’t munch on any coral in my tank.

I enjoy having them and I seed them to tanks that don’t have any and like to watch them multiply over time.

I’d just make sure yours aren’t eating anything you don’t want them to.

A keyhole limpet generally has an elongated slot like hole, thus the name, so I don't think this is one.

Most limpets we find in aquaria are beneficial, basically like a different kind of snail.

Trippin' on back to places I've been to man. Haven't seen these in a while. Reminds me of my Grandparents' Beachhouse on the Sound! Thanks for that memory flash!!!!

Caribbean keyhole or barbadensis I got on a shipment of KP that was more than happy to take down zoas and a pactinia. I can't prove he was eating sps but he did scar a couple bases in travel. DITCH IT!
