KH Coraline Gro how to use

How did things go? I went to look for a "purple up" or "pink up" bottle today and the salesman sold me this KH Coralline Gro bottle and I'm reading up on it and it doesn't seem to contain any algae plus there's a line here that reads "fish only or soft coral " why not SPS??

AS was suggested by some other reefers here - it's a waste of time and money to use supplements to speed up coraline algae growth.. Coraline algae would start growing (without a need for any supplement - but good magnesium levels helps that...) when you have these 3 components (1) tank maturity (2) stability and (3) good flow. On average I would say it takes about a year before coraline algae starts to grow in new tanks..

Hi and welcome! You’ll find that people here are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We’re glad you joined! Hopefully you’ll start a build thread so we can see your reef as it progresses.

As others have stated I wouldn’t dose this anytime soon. Your tank needs to mature first and you need to introduce coralline algae. I have snails with coralline on them. Some of my rocks have small spots of coralline as well. Coral frags often have some coralline too.

My guess about the “fish only and soft coral” deal is that the coralline species they use need low light to survive. I don’t know if purple up or the others are the same way or not. Either way your tank needs time to balance itself out. Don’t rush it. Easier said than done but I’m finally getting some. As fast as I want it to grow, nothing good happens fast in a reef tank.
