we are going to release calcium reactor control module soon. Any one who uses Calcium reactor can use this module connect KHG and KHG can help you control the out put of Calcium reactor.

I run a Dastaco unit how will it work with this type of calcium reactor? or are you refering to the AIM unit?

What type of media are you running in your Dastaco? That reactor is on my to buy list when the time comes to switch from doser to reactor. How long have you been running it and how are you liking the reactor? Is it really super simple to adjust as they say it is? That reactor along with an ARID, it's a very expensive shopping cart with unique corals.

Coralvue needs to get real with pricing on this. Yes its new, yes its valuable, but there are at least 3 other sources building a solution like this. Had they came out with something in the $500-$600 range it would have people beating down their doors for it. $1300 is just a money grab...plain and simple. The fact that the owner of coralvue said this is all about "the animals" is a joke. Its all about $$$ and that is 100% all he is interested in, and the price of the KHG reflects that.

If I may ask, what was wrong with the ARID that you did not like? How long did you have it running for and was it a design you didn't like or algae wouldn't grow? Were you dosing the iron and nitrate like they state to do?

Until something else comes out, they can charge whatever they want. If people will buy it, they can charge it. I would still purchase a KHG over something that just came out, I know the KHG has been in testing for a few years so they got the kinks worked out. Just like those stupid $1k plus 1/2" sps frags.

I just got my KH Guardian two days ago. A few interesting notes:
  • CoralVue is shipping new units with the old PCB. I'm currently trying to work with support on this. If you buy a unit, make sure you get the new PCB.
  • I've also discovered my Hanna PPM Alkalinity meter seems to be way off even though I have the Alkalinity Standards to test my unit against and it is in-line with variance. KH Guardian was coming in around 7.9 and Hanna was 9.3ish after conversion (don't remember exact number). I tested with Red Sea Pro Alkalinity and it aligned with KH Guardian. I'm tempted to buy new Hanna cuvettes to determine why it would be so far off when the Standard shows it proper.
  • I'm not a fan of the Reaction Chamber not snapping/locking in place. It doesn't fit tightly.
  • It needs to come with more hose/tubing. Does know the size of this tubing; otherwise I'll need to measure.
  • As others have discussed, it would probably be better to have the reagent pre-mixed. It would cost more to ship but the margin for accuracy and error is tiny. I have a digital scale but it's not fancy. I have calibration weights but their variance for error is larger than recommended for the reagent. Higher grade calibration weights cost a fortune, nicer scales cost a few hundred dollars (which usually have the same error variance as the reagent expects).
Otherwise, even though only a couple days running, I love this thing. After watching it for a day, I started having it dose last night. I'm hoping the AIM module comes out sooner than later. I tried to ask about it in my support ticket but it was glossed over. I'll continue to update my journey here.

The KHG revealed my Hanna alkalinity checker was way off too. My KHG has been great and I think you're really going to appreciate how much more convenient life becomes.

Sorry to hear that they shipped you one with an old PCB board. Mine still has an old PCB board because I don't want to disconnect it and send it in.
 
Regardless of how much I love this thing, I'm a bit frustrated with CoralVue but Carlos and they are taking care of me. This whole situation is just sorta ridiculous. Let's recap: I ordered a brand new unit on the 6th and received it on the 11th. I immediately discovered that it did not have the new PCB/features and opened a support ticket. After a back and forth of one message per day, I received an email this morning that I needed to send my unit back so they can do the upgrade.

Sorry for my snarky email response Carlos but seriously; if this is the process, why is CoralVue even shipping old ones?

Anyway, this thing is awesome.
