Any one on here using the new KH Guardian ? It's in the UK for about £1300 ! I' thinking of buying one but just wondered if it is as good as advertised ?

Im going to be in Florida in July and I'm thinkng I could cash in on not paying uk tax and getting one out there

Personally If I needed a Alk monitor/doser I would go with the GHL KH Director/Stand alone doser, it's cheaper by aout 25% here and never heard anything but praise for GHL equipment.

I am in the UK and using a KH Guardian from the first week available in the UK , its brilliant you get what you pay for it monitors, doses maintains the KH/PH levels I have mine online and can check anytime the unit and results are on my thread on UR in the large tank section and you can see the benefits of the corals in my tank in colours and growth also on youtube video Maxwells Reef 2017

Hi Bill thanks for the reply , I'm thinking its going to be a great buy for me because I need my ALK to be at the 7 mark because my tank runs with 0 NO3 , plus it would bacicly care for my tank when I'm away or at work as well , test kits can be a pain some times and would be nice just to let a computer do the testing and keep the ALK bang on 7

My tank is ULNS and rammed with sps as per the video I ran it at 7.5 but have upped it to 8 ,I also run a calc reactor the tank is extremely stable I have shown the info it provides in the thread .The cost is well worth it if you consider if you lose a colony or 2 it pays for itself in my opinion the only down side is the reagent cost which last ages anyway and save you doing testing and kits.I would say 7(nsw level) is a bit low for me as your on the edge at 8 you have a bit of tolerance

Thanks Bill I'm going to check out your Video on YouTube ,

I run my ALK at 7 or just above ! because I'm manuly dosing ALK and I have to test every other day or every day and add the ALK to last 24 hrs till it hits 7 again if that makes sense

david
If your manually dosing only you may use more reagent depending on the KH usage of your tank and how many times it test as you can alter the timing .

I think there is a lot more choice of kit in the USA and I can only find the KH Guardian over here in the UK!

Does any one know where in Florida would I find a decent marine reef store I can find the KH Guardian to buy ?

I know I would have to swap the plug on the power lead for a UK one ! But it should work the same

Uh you guys use 230V over there right, anything bought in North America will be for 110V. You wont be able to just swap the plug you'll need a converter.

Hi finhead when I was In Texas working I could use my 240v stuff over there !
In the UK we use 110v on work sites for power tools and a converter is really cheap to buy but your right I will have to get a converter of some kind !

I will need to look into the power supply difference a bit more ! Thought it was going to be to easy !!

Just found out that elecronics these days are made to run both 120v - 240v by the use of AC power ! That's how computers and Tv's can be used on both power supplys !
We share the same Hz 50 - 60

Thanks for the heads up on the power tho

You'll have to order online from coral vue. It was on sale for 999 direct from kh earlier this week.

Im test ALK every day or there abouts and I'm starting a new job on Monday at a aerospace compny company which I will be working late shifts ! So have this KH Guardian will take the pressure of me needing to test all the time and plus keeping the KH spot on , I can' wait to get one
