My kH is 9.5dKH. I know its supposed to be around 7-8. What causes it to be high, is this a dangerous level and how can I lower it?
Thanks,
Bill

I don't think its dangerous, some would say it's perfect.....especially for acros. I keep mine a little lower as my zoas seem to like it. If you want i lower, just skip a few days of dosing two-part, cut down on water changes, turn down the CO2 on your calcium reactor, or dial down your dosing pumps.....depending on how you normally dose.

I dont dose anything, but I have little corals in there to absorb the nutrients. Havent done any water changes because there are no fish. I have about 12 corals in there total, some zoas(3 polyp frag plugs), chalices(tiny frags), 1 SPS and a frogspawn. THe corals all look really good, but I have heard people say ALK spikes cause corals to get burned and didnt know if this was a sign it was starting.
