Hello, im using Kalkwasser in my ATO (20 Liters, about 5.28 Gallons), im dosing right now 9 Grams of Kalkwasser.

I made all the numbers before doing the calculation on the dosing.

Its the Second time that ive refilled the ATO and it doesnt maintain my KH at 8. After the ATO is empty (around the 10th day), my kh is around 7dKH.

My calcium keeps stable at 412 ppm.

Does it takes time for the Reef Tank to realize that im using Kalk? or shoud it maintain the parameters instantly?

Should i add more kalk?

Thanks!

Using this online calculator, says that 9 grams is enough to replace the 0.18kH that is consumed daily on my system.

Dosing Kalk via ATO usually won’t keep up with Alk in a demanding tank.. a reactor may help, I just just dose 2 part to supplement my Kalkwasser

Full saturation of kalk is 2 tsp per 1 US gallon.

Ok, taking note right now! will try this after the ATO is empty
I ran full saturation in my ato for my lps tank and it worked just fine. Just a heads up Kalk is hard on pumps which is why I no longer do it. I had to replace my tunze ato pump about every 9 months. Thankfully they are cheap.

If you have the tunze the best price I’ve found is amazon. I just got a spare last week for $20 shipped

i got the coral box one... and this year has worked great!

i better start searching for spare parts!

You are pretty close. Maybe another half a TSP or 1 TSP should do it. Make sure to have a lid on your top off reservoir as well. Take it slow, you'll get there.

BTW if you use the Tunze 3155 ATO you can add their 5074 calcium dispenser for kalkwasser addition. It wont have any negative impact on the pump.
