What do you have for corals?? If you have Lps and Sps yes they use up alk. Need to figure out how much use daily and then do daily dosing toKeep it steady from day to day.
Yes raisin or dropping to fast can cause issues mostly with Sps. What so you use for alk supplement?
You could try adding a small amount of buffer to your top off water. Using straight rodi water can lower alk because it typically has lower alk than a reef tank. Also what size tank is it?
I use Baking Soda, and bump it from 8 to 10 in a day with no issues. I mix it in a 32oz cup of tank water, then slowly dump it in fron of my sump powerhead.
Recommended maximum daily increases of dKH is 1.4 per day. Actually I try to do half that; I've burnt corals doing that. I'd spread out increases in dKH to around .5 per day. Test to see how much it is using daily when you get it to a desired level. Here's a fun calculator to play around with. Reef Calculator - Bulk Reef Supply
ok, thanks for all the help. I am going to go the buffer in reservoir route at first I got a little buffer left, then Im gonna try the baking soda route.
thanks again
