I do think its because i left my nitrate remover media in for too long so it started going back into my system and i do plan on doing a water change although my brother and his wife dont recommend that due to them saying it will affect my levels greatly and yes i am using RO/DI water and ive done multiple tests and have followed exact instructions

I thought Purigen binds organics so nitrates don't build up, but it won't remove what what nitrates you already have?

Doesn't Purigen adsorb nitrate?

No, nothing can remove significant nitrate from seawater.

Purigen removes organics, and can thereby reduce nitrate and phosphate by removing the organic mater before it breaks down, just like a skimmer or GAC.
