I hate using the standard test kits for checking alkalinity is there any digital pen like a ph pen that can check the alkalinity? I have the Hannah colorimeter but I don't like it much either I can spend up to $500... Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks, Jeff

I have a DIY alk test article coming out in a month and a half. It uses a pH meter and a standard acid.

There is nothing like a pH pen, aside from the Hannah.

The problem is that alkalinity is not a single thing in the water, but the sum of the concentration of several things.

Hach may make something like the Hannah but more expensive. Try searching at Manufactures Water Quality Testing and Analytical Instruments & Reagents | Hach USA

Yeah the hach is out of my price range by a good bit... I'd love to see the method! I really enjoy your posts I try to wrap my head around them. Thanks for the reply and all your do for us aquarists your work is appreciated!
