KH very low

There was a problem with my tank for which I couldn't figure out why.
The tank is 65 days old today. I cycle to day 33. And then to start releasing corals.
Current parameters:
NO2: 0.05
NO3: 5
Po4: 0
KH: 5
Salinity: 35ppt
Salt used: Tropic marine Bio sync
Food: feed every 3 days. reefbosster + ab plus
Microbiology: AF Np pro and AF pro bios daily use
Soft coral reef tank as shown. No fish or shellfish
Input measurement salt KH = 8
However, when I received the Redsead test, the KH was only 5. Measured 6 times in 3 consecutive days, KH was still 5.
I am very concerned about the KH loss ???
Somebody help me ???

Anyways, could you upload a picture of the endpoint on your test to make sure you are reading it right? It would also be handy to try a second test kit given that everything looks ok.


If you are not dosing alk, you should be. You have a lot of LPS corals. You should also check your calcium.

I think only SPS consume and reduce KH, OR some type of shellfish

All corals cosume alk....you may need to start dosing to keep up with the usage.

Also welcome to R2R!

As your corals grow you will start to use all 3 of the major parameters.

Alk
Cal
Mag

Your weekly water changes should replenish them but you may need to dose what isn't replenish as your corals use it.

Everything consumes it. Coralline algae and all sorts of creatures. Snails, feather dusters. You have to dose it to replenish.

Thanks for your repky. I have 1kg cheato in my sump. And 4 coninae. But i don't think it consumes more KH. I'm newbie.

What are you using for dosing? Alk, Calc, Mag? For example my tank uses 30ml of fritz rpm alk, and I dose 3ml of red seas foundation calc+ and mag+ daily. I use Red Seas testing kit once a day normally at the same time before dosing. About to test tank as I type this.
