Maybe @Randy Holmes-Farley can clue me in...:)
...been trying to find info on Monopotassium Phosphate (kh2PO4) as an alternative additive to increasing pO4 levels.
I came across the standard wiki info and an RC thread or two but not much else, outside of maybe feeding more, is kh2PO4 a viable option, if not can you recommend an alternative?
an additional concern is maybe driving potassium levels high with dosing both kh2PO4 and KNO3, I'm airing on the side of caution and why I bring it up.

Some background info...
numerous pO4 test, both with redsea and hanna keep coming back 0.0ppm.
I do have a slight (sand bed only) cyano issue that I assume is attributed to an imbalance between No3 and PO4.

There would certainly be nothing wrong with dosing sufficiently pure KH2PO4 to boost phosphate, if that is a goal. Almost any phosphate salt of sodium or potassium would be fine. K3PO4, Na3PO4, K2HPO4, Na2HPO4, KH2PO4, NaH2PO4 would all be OK.

I'm not sure why cyano would be associated with an imbalance (as opposed to available of both N and P at reasonable levels), and especially in the direction you suggest. Cyano (at least some species of it) are about the only organism in reef aquaria that can get nitrogen from N2 (air).

That said, it is easy to dose and see if the cyano declines, and if it does (and that is all you do), we'd be very interested to heart back the result!

Are you also monitoring nitrate?

Current level of nitrate keeps coming back 0.0ppm according to redsea test kit.

I ran the test twice and have to also admit I got a new test kit assuming that the one I currently have was not functioning but, both now have my nitrates results at 0.0ppm.

If you want more of both N and P, I'd probably use more foods. I don't really see a drawback.

But I don't think that N and P can be excessively low if you have cyano. :)

You'll get no disagreement with me on that point:), I just don't know what my next step should be? I'm considering ordering a triton test just to make sure my levels are where I think they are and go from there?
