KHD reference solution question

Hello fellow reefers...a newbie question hopefully a ghl user can help me with.
I just set up my KHD and am using the 7.5 reference solution to run some tests.
First test was 14kh, next 4 have been 9.5kh.
First question, do I run the test using the KH test reagent? And 7.5 reference solution instead of tank water?
Second question, any thoughts and suggestions what I need to check on why I am getting readings that are so high?
